Founder, Executive Director, and Swim Mentor
Kendall Carpenter
Kendall Carpenter is a senior at Hammond High School in Columbia, MD. She has been a competitive swimmer since she was 7 years old, and she swims on the National training team for Machine Aquatics-UMD. Kendall loves the sport of swimming because it makes her feel stronger both mentally and physically, has taught her important life lessons, and introduced her to amazing people. Swimming has also given Kendall the opportunity to explore different aquatic activities. Among the most exciting of these was earning her PADI open water scuba diving certification in 2022 and having the chance to reel in a stingray and tag sharks as a member of the 2024 Minorities in the Shark Sciences (MISS) camp in Florida. When Kendall is not in or near the water, she works as a year-long volunteer at the Maryland Zoo; spends time with her family, friends, and pets (a dog, bearded dragon, and hamster); and enjoys binge watching tv shows and favorite movies.

Assistant Director and Swim Mentor
Langston Duncan
Langston Duncan is a senior at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD and has been swimming competitively since he was seven. He swims for his school team as well as the National Training Group (NTG) for Eagle Swim Team. Being a competitive swimmer has not only given Langston the chance to compete at the national level across the country, but it has led to his commitment to swim on the Division I level at Northwestern University in 2025. For Langston, swimming has fostered many connections and relationships that have transcended his time in the pool and for that, it has been invaluable. In his involvement with Diversity on Deck, he aims to showcase the numerous opportunities that aquatics can offer. Outside of the pool, Langston loves listening to music, playing guitar, hiking, and spending time with his family and friends. He looks forward to finishing his senior year in high school and beginning his freshman year at Northwestern where he plans to major in economics and minor in French.
