All God’s Children Camp
Diversity on Deck was thrilled to be invited back to help support Baltimore Children’s Peace Center’s All God’s Children camp! This time, however, swim sessions took place at the Frederick 4-H Camp Center in Frederick, MD. We had a great time reconnecting with campers from last year, and new swim mentors had the chance to join the energy and fun at All God’s Children Camp.
08.24
Horizons Greater Washington Swim Olympics
The Horizons Swim Olympics at the University of the District of Columbia was the culminating event of Horizons Greater Washington’s Summer Academy Awards Ceremony. Swimmers from all four swim sites competed in kickboard races, freestyle and backstroke competitions, freestyle relays, and water polo matches. Diversity on Deck volunteers were on hand to help facilitate events, serve as timers, and help cheer swimmers on!

Horizons Greater Washington Summer Academy
Diversity on Deck launches its partnership with Horizons Greater Washington! For five weeks in July, Diversity on Deck Swim Mentors served as Water Safety Instruction supporters for Horizon’s 2024 Summer Academy pool sites, volunteering at the following four locations: The University of the District of Columbia, The Swiss Embassy, George Washington University, and Montgomery College. In all, Swim Mentors helped teach approximately 400 Horizon campers!

All God’s Children Camp
Under the administrative leadership and sponsorship of the Baltimore Children’s Peace Center (BCPC), the “hands-on” volunteering work of Diversity on Deck begins! Langston Duncan and Kendall Carpenter volunteer with All God’s Children Camp at the Claggett Center in Adamstown, MD. With the welcoming encouragement of Ms. Stacey Brown (BCPC Board Chair), and All God’s Children Camp Co-Directors Brendan McElroy and Carey McKenzie, Kendall and Langston offer swim instruction and support to All God’s Children summer campers.
